NBA star Steph Curry will auction off specially crafted sneakers to show support for Asian culture

Steph Curry is going to sell off a pair of custom-made sneakers to raise money for the families of the people who died in the spa shootings in the Atlanta area last month.

An increase in hate crimes against Asians over the past year led the player for the Golden State Warriors to wear boots that were yellow, white, and black during their loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. He did this to show support for the Asian community.

Bruce Lee’s famous quote, “Under the heavens, there is but one family,” was painted on the shoes, which were made in partnership with the Bruce Lee Foundation.

Shannon Lee, chair of the Bruce Lee Foundation board, said, “I think Stephen’s action shows what allyship and solidarity look like in real life.”

“It is an honor that he chose my father and my family as a symbol for the idea that, as my father once said, we are all part of the same family and must support each other.”

In March, killings killed eight people at three spas in the Atlanta area. Six of the victims were Asian women. The tragedy made more people aware of the rise in violence against Asians in the US.

As of the start of the pandemic, supporters and the government say they have heard of thousands of racist attacks on Asian people.

In 2019, Jeremy Lin won an NBA title with the Toronto Raptors. He was the first Asian American to do so. He has spoken out about what he has been through and thinks that the COVID-19 pandemic has made a problem in the country worse that was already there.

He talked about how, in his opinion, some of the talk about the virus has made people more prejudiced against Asians.

People didn’t like it when former US President Donald Trump called the coronavirus the “Kung flu” and the “Chinese virus” while he was in office.

Before Sunday’s game, Curry told The Undefeated that he didn’t like hearing about the shootings in Atlanta.

He said that he was “disgust, horror, and plain anger at why violence ever happens in our country.”

“After everything we’ve been through in the past year, let alone in the history of our country, people are still going through needless tragedy and fear for their lives.” We need to do better.
